KC has a doctorate in psychology from New York University. She is currently an assistant professor at Idaho State University. Her main areas of expertise are implicit social cognition and self-regulation. Her research focuses on how subtle exposure to stimuli and to the behavior of others affects goal pursuit in individuals.

Her research has been published in scholarly journals and presented at numerous conferences. One of her recent papers on gender differences in the reception to HIV-intervention materials has received much attention in the medical press.
