Collaborative is a communications consulting practice that forms partnerships with national foundations, the public sector, nonprofit education and community-based organizations and school districts to create initiatives, distinctive products and sustainable solutions that can improve the performance of groups serving public education. Collaborative believes that education is central to many of our toughest social problems and that communications is at the core of addressing many of those problems. We use collaboration, deep knowledge of a variety of education issues and the technical application of communications skills to get results. Through communications and engagement, we bring diverse perspectives together to reach workable solutions to collective problems. We believe that this kind of participatory, collaborative communications is essential to creating the richer, more meaningful understanding that can lead to lasting improvement in public institutions, particularly in public schools, that determine our quality of community life. Our Summit Creative Award was received for our work with the Council of Chief State School Officers. We assisted with the creation in design, development and utilization of a Web portal for the Secondary School Redesign Project, which provides state education agencies with resources from around the country to help them better serve the needs of districts and schools involved in the process of redesigning secondary schools.
